Downtown Courtenay Summer Street Markets

September 02 2020

Every Wednesday, June 17th to September 2nd from 4 PM to 7 PM in downtown Courtenay on England Avenue between 4th and 5th Streets.

The Downtown Courtenay Summer Street Markets, a partnership between Comox Valley Arts, Comox Valley Farmers’ Market and Downtown Courtenay Business Improvement Association, is gearing up for their summer market season.  As with many businesses operating during these unprecedented times of COVID-19, the Wednesday Summer Street Market will look a bit different this year.

Firstly you will notice that the market is not the event that it has been in previous years.  There will be no entertainment or seating areas and concessions will be takeout only.  The biggest change will be the temporary absence of the arts and crafts vendors.  You will still be able to shop at the Comox Valley Farmer’s Market in the same physically distant controlled way that has been established for the Saturday Markets at the Comox Valley Exhibition grounds, however; due to the way people like to engage with arts and crafts products and the steps and staff required to ensure compliance with the Provincial Health Orders and WorksafeBC Guidelines, Comox Valley Arts has made the difficult decision to not participate in the physical portion of the market. Comox Valley Arts has recognized the opportunity to take the arts and craft vendors online. Finally, the market will have reduced hours and operate from 4 PM-7PM.

Comox Valley Farmers Market will continue to adapt their approach to ensure you can get local, fresh and nutritionally dense food by implementing COVID-19 measures to keep everyone safe and reduce risks. If you are unable to make it to the market or want to pre-order product check out the Farmers’ Market online store at https://www.localline.ca/comox-valley-farmers-market  .
