Moonlight & Magic offers sparkle and sizzle as a festive kick-off!
Downtown Courtenay’s much anticipated annual kick-off to the festive season is coming up Friday, November 22nd! Moonlight & Magic features fantastic merchant specials all day long and then at 5 pm till 9 pm Downtown Courtenay’s streets come alive with music, magic, dance parties, cozy fire pits, feasting and drinking, yummy food trucks, kids crafts, face painting, pop up choirs and a live-fire performance on Duncan Ave at 8 pm!
The Official Tree Lighting!
Be sure to make it downtown in time for the official Downtown Courtenay Tree Lighting at 515 at 5th and England with the Canadian Military Wives Choir Comox, Valley Mayors, special guests and the Just In Time Choir! It’s the perfect way to get into the spirit of the season. Then hit the streets for music, food trucks, roving performers, festive fun and inspired shopping at locally owned businesses throughout Downtown!

There’s Magic in the Moonlight!
In keeping with the theme of Moonlight and Magic, you won’t want to miss this years special guest performer, the wildly talented Vancouver based magician Travis Bernhardt at 5:45 on 5th between Cliffe and Duncan, 6:30 pm on the CVAG Plaza on Duncan Ave and back on 5th street at 7:30 on upper 5th street between England and Fitzgerald! Bernhardt is a Pick of the Fringe festival favourite with several award-winning stage shows under his belt.
Kids Crafts and Magical Faces
Kids are invited to make their own super special Moonlight and Magic crafts and tree ornaments with Jenja at 5th and Duncan. Or visit the Magical Faces face painting tent and get some festive sparkles and designs added to your face. Magical Faces face-painting is proudly sponsored by Courtenay Alberi MP Gord Johns.
Dance Parties and Singalongs!
Dance parties are highly encouraged at Moonlight Pop Up parties throughout the downtown core. Up at 5th and England DJ em.ash and DJ Adil holding down the street corner! Down at 5th and Duncan you’ll find the Atlas Cafe sponsored Atlasphere Pop Up Party with DJ LadyK and at the CVAG Plaza on Duncan DJ rudeboy will be offering up global rhythms for music lovers of all ages.
Join in on a family carol singalong with the Comox Valley Children’s Choir, with popcorn and other treats at the Blue Spruce Courtyard on the corner of Cliffe and 5th from 6-7 pm. Pop Up Choirs have also become a big part of the Moonlight & Magic tradition and this year is no different! The Pop Up Choir performance will take place at 750 pm on the CVAG Plaza. Moonlight Spectacle of Fire!
The annual Moonlight and Magic spectacle of fire takes place at 8 pm on Duncan Ave! Ignisia Circus has once again developed an exciting show for Moonlight audiences to enjoy! Be prepared for breath-taking beauty as these dancers and performance artists set their tools on fire and perform for awestruck audiences!
Après Moonlight: Elevate’s Twisted Moonlight Cabaret
Our friends at Elevate are presenting an “Après Moonlight” event in the deep dark belly of the Lower Elks called the “Twisted Moonlight Cabaret”. Doors open at 9 pm, the event starts at 930 and includes magic, burlesque, sketch comedy, dance and music and a delicious bar. This not-to-be missed cabaret is 19+ and advance tickets are $20.
